National Museum of Pre-History

The Dordogne and Vezere valleys are home to many sites of archeological interest and this museum at Les Eyzies, which is a 20 minute drive from Gite Coquelicot, houses many artifacts that have been found in the area.

Caves and Grottos

There are many prehistoric caves and grottos in the area, including Lascaux with it's famous cave paintings.

Jacou Parc

A theme parc that caters mainly for younger children. Just a 10 minute drive from Gite Coquelicot.

Canoeing on the Vezere River

On a hot Summers day, taking a canoe down the Vezere valley is a real pleasure. From Le Bugue, you are taken up river by car to your point of embarkation. Entering the river, which flows from East to West, the lazy current will bring you back to your starting point. You can take as long as you like over the journey, perhaps stopping for a picnic on the river bank.
